Using 2mil RapidMask™ I am able to take a photo and transfer it on to the film so it can be
sandblasted.Blasting is done using 180 or 220 grit silicone carbide media at a low pressure set at at 25 psi for
pressure pot blasting and 40 psi siphone blasting.I use the prassure pot method.
Here is a short video on the halftone process I use to create the preblast image.
The marble and wood are custom cut to match the glass size using routers on the wooden base and a 7" slider tile
saw for the marble which is then hand polished on the edges for a brilliant shine.
White leds with a 200 ma dc transformer are used to light the glass.
Here are some misc items I have blasted-Click Photos for Larger Image
This is a sand blasted photo of my dog. Using photo resistant film you can create
photo realistic images engraved on glass, stone, wood and many other substrates.
This actually was my first half tone attempt. Not bad for a beginner.
My first multistage glass carving. This technique requires alot more practice. It
is achieved by numbering layers and pulling them off from deepest to just a frosted
etch.
My second attempt half tone.
Here is a sand blasted mirror that I painted and framed.
You can get great detail using photo resist films. The lines in this project are
as close as 1/32"of an inch.
Here is a tiger blasted on a glass block using 3 mil photo resist.
